The surface vessels dispersed to resume routine operations or to conduct exercises that maintained readiness, without creating the kind of tension that had characterized the peak of the crisis. The aircraft returned to their bases and the defensive systems returned to normal alert levels that balanced vigilance against the costs of maintaining the highest states of readiness indefinitely.

Greenland's independence had been preserved in the formal sense that no nation had succeeded, in imposing arrangements that would have eliminated sovereignty while maintaining its appearance. The Arctic Alliance had demonstrated that small nations could organize effectively to protect their interests when they possessed capabilities that larger powers needed to account for in their strategic planning. The AI Rewritten system had proven its value by providing surveillance that exceeded what existing networks had achieved and by exposing manipulation that would otherwise have remained concealed beneath layers of plausible deniability.
